Philosophy: A sequential, integrated music program is essential for the education of every child. The study of music:
- offers students instruction in all aspects of music, which includes singing, moving, playing, reading, listening, analyzing, creating, and performing.
- offers powerful tools for expression, which makes it possible for students to connect intellect with emotion and bring meaning and beauty into their lives.
- takes similar music skills and concepts at each grade level and applies them at an increasing complex level, which results in an extremely high standard of musicianship and performance.
- has positive effects on reading, writing, and math skills, while expanding the students’ knowledge of the world around them.
- builds leadership skills in the areas of teambuilding, listening and following, creativity, social interaction, discipline, and personal commitment.
- teaches the skills to prepare students to be productive citizens and lifelong learners.
