Nashville has always been my home. Actually, I live in Madison with my husband of thirty-four years.  Jerry and I both are graduates of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools—Jerry from Goodlettsville High and myself from Madison High. My BA degree is from Belmont University where I majored in Education with an English major and Latin minor. Since graduating from Belmont, I have added certifications in Latin, English, and Library Science.

Jerry and I have two adult children. Tim is our son who lives with his wife, Surupa, in Thompson Station.  He works as a media specialist and is on the radio periodically. Julie, our daughter, is six years younger than her brother, and she graduates in October from Sullivans Culinary Arts Institute in Louisville.  Whether she will move back to Nashville any time soon is uncertain at this time.

I have several major interests which include perennial gardening, quilting, reading, cooking, and teaching rubber stamping classes.  I enjoy working with my hands and creating something that will bring pleasure to not only myself but also to others.  I never sell my work but use it as gifts for family and close friends.

One of the pleasures in my life has been having the opportunity to go on several mission trips.  So far, I have been on nine official trips which have led me to Canada and Mexico as well as Appalachia.  I teach rubber stamping and quilting to pastors’ wives and to women in the community.

At Hillwood, I teach Linguistics.  My English background, as well as my Latin, I feel, has helped me to enrich the curriculum as I try to teach reading skills.  I want to convey my love to reading to my students.  I know that everything they learn in my classes will help them in other classes and throughout their lives. I have seen some wonderful progress made by students when they applied the skills taught in class.
