The Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education announces a vacancy in the following position:
Family and Youth Services Assistant
12 Months – Grade 6 -- Base Hourly Rate $12.19
Department of Student Services
Pending 2008-2009 Budget Approval

Employment Standards:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Mental Health or other service areas. Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma/GED; five (5) years experience providing service to children dealing with social/emotional issues or other related service areas may be accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree. Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel. Valid Tennessee Driver’s License and insured personal vehicle.
Provide ARB services to the schools; inform parents of the State Attendance Laws and violations of the law; work with parents, schools and Juvenile Court to successfully petition truant students and their parents to Court; work collaboratively with school staff, families, community agencies, Juvenile Court, DCS, MNPD and other Metro Government agencies; refer families to appropriate agencies for services and assistance in student achieving and maintaining compulsory attendance; assist in identifying personal factors contributing to student truancy and poor attendance. Available to work a flexible schedule including after school hours and week-ends.
