The Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools announces a vacancy in the following position:
SECURITY OFFICER – DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT SERVICES
12 months- Pay Grade 9- Base Hourly Rate - $16.72
PENDING 2008-2009 BUDGET APPROVAL

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
High School Diploma or GED. Associates Degree in Police Science or Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university is desired. Three (3) years work experience which establishes an employment background consistent with the responsibilities and requirements of this position. Valid Tennessee Driver's License required. Experience in the use of a trained canine for drug detection preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of safety and security procedures and standards in a school setting; knowledge of MNPS policies and procedures relating to school safety and security; knowledge of search methods and procedures; knowledge of MNPS school locations, school properties and the general street locations of Davidson County; skilled in oral and written communications; ability to conduct thorough investigations; ability to patrol assigned school properties and identify and/ or prevent the commission of illegal activity; ability to prepare clear and concise investigative reports; ability to handle oneself professionally and with confidence in court testimonies; ability to safely operate a MNPS issued vehicle; ability to maintain a good working relationship with school personnel, students, parents, and law enforcement personnel.
