Metro Nashville Public School District realizes that every child is unique and has different learning needs and interests. To meet the diverse demand of students, MNPS offers enrollment in Magnet Schools, Design Centers, Enhanced Option Schools, and Optional Enrollment Schools. Parents have options when selecting the school that best fits the needs of their child.

Lottery School Information Dates 

2010 – 2011

November 2, 2009    APPLICATIONS SENT HOME by all schools. (This includes "pathway continuation forms" for Lottery students moving from elementary to middle or middle to high school.

November 3, 10, 17, December 1    
"WALK-THROUGH TUESDAYS"

December 4, 2009    
APPLICATION/PATHWAY DEADLINE
Parents return form to the Office of School Options. This deadline includes all Lottery applications as well as the "pathway continuation forms" for Lottery students moving from elementary to middle or middle to high school.


No applications will be accepted after this date except for families new to MNPS.

January 4, 2010    LOTTERY CARDS MAILED

January 9, 2010    LOTTERY DAY
The lottery will be held on this date for all Lottery schools. (11th and 12th grades are not in the lottery.)

January 11, 2010    CONTINUATION LETTERS
The schools participating in the lottery will send home a continuation letter. (This affects Lottery students who will be changing grades, but staying in the same school for the next year.) PK students do not receive continuation letters except for Hull Jackson and Stanford.

January 20, 2010    LOTTERY ACCEPTANCE/WAIT LIST LETTTERS
The acceptance and wait list letters will be mailed.

January 27, 2010    DEADLINE -- CONTINUATION LETTERS
Continuation letters must be returned to the Lottery School by this date.

January 12, 19, 26    "WALK-THROUGH TUESDAYS"

February 5, 2010    DEADLINE -- LOTTERY ACCEPTANCE LETTERS
The acceptance letter must be returned to the Office of School Options by this date by 5:30 PM.

February 17, 2010    ACCEPTANCE LETTERS MAILED -- 1st PULL
Entry level and non-entry level grades will be mailed acceptance letters.

March 5, 2010    DEADLINE -- 1st PULL ACCEPTANCE LETTERS
The acceptance letter must be returned to the Office of School Options by this date by 5:30 PM.

April 7, 2010    ACCEPTANCE LETTERS MAILED -- 2nd PULL
Entry level and non-entry level grades will be mailed acceptance letters.

April 23, 2010    DEADLINE -- 2nd PULL ACCEPTANCE LETTERS
The acceptance letter must be returned to the Office of School Options by this date by 5:30 PM.

June 11, 2010    ACCEPTANCE LETTERS MAILED -- 3rd PULL
Entry level and non-entry level grades will be mailed acceptance letters.

June 25, 2010    DEADLINE -- 3rd PULL ACCEPTANCE LETTERS
The acceptance letter must be returned to the Office of School Options by this date by 5:30 PM.

There will be additional pulls in the month of July and August after TCAP scores are in. This pathway will include the pathway to Martin Luther King and Hume-Fogg for Head, Rose Park, and Meigs students who did not have the scores in the fall. These dates will be posted on the website (www.mnps.org) as soon as they are known.

If you are on a waiting list or possibly expecting a pathway form after June and will be on vacation in July or August, please email karen.callis@mnps.org for more information.

We will call parents during the first three days of school for vacancies that remain. These calls will have a 24-hour response time. Please make sure you inform the Office of School Options in writing of any phone number changes.

Make sure your address and phone numbers are updated with the Office of School Options. These must be in writing with a parent signature and can be emailed, faxed, mailed or brought in to Customer Service. Make sure we have this information at least a week before the letters will be mailed.
